the longer story

For as long as I can remember, I have always been drawn to the medical field and anatomy… it fascinated me! Learning how our bodies are created to function is incredible. Life is a miracle in itself! There were so many directions I could go in a career... all I knew was that I loved babies and wanted to help people.

I had the opportunity to attend several births (epidural, non-medicated, planned induction, twin homebirth… all along the spectrum) and witnessing firsthand the power of a birthing woman who is confident, supported, and respected ignited the fire and passion in my heart for birth work.

I then began reading, studying, and soaking up anything childbirth related. Books, articles, films… anything I could get my hands on! I took a childbirth class and completed my first birth doula training with DONA Intl. in March 2018 and am currently in the process of certifying through DONA. I also completed a labor doula training through CAPPA in August 2018.

The beauty of birth isn’t limited to one kind of birth experience... each birth is unique. The beauty is found in empowered mamas making informed choices for themselves and their babies while being supported by care they trust. This isn’t out of reach for ANY woman! YOU deserve these options.

“I do not care what kind of birth you have… a homebirth, scheduled cesarean, epidural hospital birth, or if you birth alone in the woods next to a baby deer. I care that you had options, that you were supported in your choices and that you were respected.”  —January Harshe
